Clem Santy Tournament

Posted by Derek Haley at Dec 5, 2008 10:42AM PST ( 0 Comments )

At the request of the Clem Santy Tournament organizer, we were asked to share the following with our parents. For the record, he sent this to all the teams participating in the Tournament; North Plainfield was not specifically mentioned, nor do we have any reason to think the message is directed at any of our parents, but just wanted to share the communication as per his request.

{Several of our volunteers had "issues" with people not paying, complaining about paying or both. PLEASE remind your parents this is a FUNDRAISER for our recreation department. The money we raise goes towards payment of the referees, the concessions we have already purchased and the trophies we will be giving out. I specifically posted the fact that there was an admission cost on the web page so there would be no surprises. PLEASE inform your parents they will be expected to pay to attend the games – $3 for adults and $2 for kids. If they have more then one game, or need to run out for any reason they can get a hand stamp and return. This will be especially true on Saturday where everyone has multiple games. Players don’t pay, but all other are expected to do so. And a player is someone playing THAT GAME – not a player whose games start next weekend!

So please simply ask them to not "sneak in" on us. And this was NOT the case with the majority – it was a small amount – but nonetheless I need to make sure you are all aware.

Also, please remind everyone we will have information on various charities from here out, and we hope to raise some money for those less fortunate. We will look to help Make-A-Wish, Leukemia and Lymphoma, and Michael J Fox Foundation, with possibilities of more. And we will continue to have the box for Toys for Tots at each gym.

Thank you all in advance for your support and cooperation!}

Just so you’re aware, once the Tournament concludes, the regular-season games (i.e. – St. Bernard, 7:00pm on Saturday) are admission-free.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks

Watch College Basketball games!!

Posted by Jaimie Gardner at Nov 26, 2008 9:03PM PST ( 0 Comments )

To learn the game of basketball it is good to watch basketball. College basketball games are very similar to the style we will play. Watch a few games over the holiday and see if you can recognize the defenses. Also, look for the position that you play and watch what that player does. Copy this link for the schedule on the espn networks. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/schedules

Registration Fees

Posted by Jaimie Gardner at Nov 18, 2008 10:46AM PST ( 0 Comments )

Parents, we would like to collect the checks for the registration fee, work bond and uniform bond by Friday of this week. We cannot hand out the uniforms until we receive those checks. The checks should be made out to NPYSA for the amount of $100 each. Only one (1) of the checks will be cashed, the other two will be returned to you at the end of the season; once you have returned the uniform and volunteered your time. You can hand your checks into either Coach Haley or myself. Thank you.
