Open Gym Thursdays!!

Posted by Jaimie Gardner at Nov 13, 2008 12:36PM PST ( 0 Comments )

On Thursday nights we will have an open gym at East End. This is provided for Travel Basketball players to improve their basic skills, passing, dribbling and shooting. This is an optional practice. The new guys are requested to be there to continue to develop the necessary skills. Tonight I will be there from 6-7:30pm. Coach Haley and I will let you know each week when the next open gym will be.

Study the Information

Posted by Jaimie Gardner at Nov 4, 2008 6:34AM PST ( 0 Comments )

Congratulations again to the parents and young men that made the North Plainfield 4th Grade Travel Basketball team. The hard work begins now, please make sure our players study the information and begin to get into basketball shape. As Coach Haley said we have a tournament in Dunellen at the beginning of December. We have to be prepared and we want to hit the ground running when we start practice within the next 2 weeks. Coach Haley and I look forward to working with your sons this season.
Thank you.

Your 2008-09 North Plainfield Pirates!

Posted by Derek Haley at Nov 3, 2008 3:54PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Please congratulate your son on behalf of Coach Gardner and me, because he – them, in the case of the twins – made the North Plainfield 4th Grade Traveling Basketball Team.

Remember, in order to play on the Traveling Team, they must be registered for and participate in the town’s Recreation Basketball program. Someone will be at the Vermuele Center this evening (11/3) from 7-8pm; I know most of you won’t see this until later, but just wanted to let you know. For those that haven’t registered already, you will have to pay an additional $6 late fee to the Recreation Department.

We’ll begin practicing in the near future – in order to prepare for a pre-season tournament in Dunellen in early December – so make sure they’re ready.

I know how much kids love homework, but we have an assignment that will help them develop some fundamentals needed to succeed in basketball. In the documents section of the website, there is a document Coach Gardner put together for their reference – particularly for those that haven’t played organized basketball before.

And the parents have homework too; you need to write the three (3) checks I mentioned – each one for $100, all made out to NPYSA. This is a total volunteer organization, and we’re going to need you to help out as well.

For your reference, my cell number is (973) 271-8840, and Jamie’s is (908) 295-5554.

We’re looking forward to a fun and exciting season.

Thanks
